Barrel Vice
Bison Tactical carries an inexpensive durable and overbuilt Barrel Vice made by The Viper’s Den – a well known bench rest shooter who makes bench rests and these barrel vices.
These barrel vices can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and are simple and easy to use and understand.
Barrels that bolt action competitive shooters in Precision Rifle Series or National Rifle League are typically using fit perfectly well in the vice.
Thin hunting diameter barrels or AR15 think barrels may not fit.
The vice is constructed of 6061 Aluminum, and the base is 1″ thick. The vice is powder coated and designed to be softer than rifle barrel steel to avoid marring the surface of your barrel.
However it is recommended to use thick bond weight paper, or cardboard like a toilet paper roll around the barrel to serve as a buffer between the vice and your barrel, and to help avoid slippage.
All 4 of the bolts are hardened and feature a captured spring to make tightening and loosening the 3/4″ nuts simple.
When used in conjunction with an action wrench like the Zermatt Arms Action Wrench swapping you barrels on your Bighorn Arms TL3 or RimX rifle action is painless and easy.
Verified to work with Medium Palma through 1.25″ straight contours – will likely fit smaller common contours. I have also used it with wooden shims made from hardware paint stirers to remove smaller contour barrels like AR15 medium contour barrels.
