RimX .22 LR Barrel with Action
Our RimX 22LR Barrel with Actions ship with 30MOA rails and Tactical bolt knobs – if you require something different please leave it in your order comments and we will attempt to comply.
Though they can be ordered together we no longer assemble barrels and actions prior to shipping. This is to reduce the chance of damaging the barreled action. This means your barrel and action will be shipped disassembled. We recommend a Bighorn Action Wrench and the Barrel Vice. Simply torque your barrel to 40 ft lbs, or have your gunsmith install.
Barrels marked “IN-STOCK” are either on our shelf, or at our gunsmith awaiting chambering (Modacam). We do this to best control inventory without creating a large back-order list.
If the barrel blank is at Modacam but not yet chambered when you order, the lead time is approximately 8 weeks.
We highly recommend against threading you muzzle, even for a tuner. If using a heavy barrel profile it can cause significant problems with accuracy. If using a tuner, do a direct thread for the specific tuner (like a 1″ thread).

Our Prefit barrels as of 2/22/2021 are accuracy verified. We now perform a function and accuracy test on every barrel we ship, and each barrel includes a test target documenting the test performed. We are doing this unprecedented step to help you the customer know that you are receiving a barrel that has been verified to shoot well.
We don’t offer an accuracy guarantee because the of the many variables that normally occur when building a system.
This pre-loads the quality control for us, and allows us to only ship barrels we know have an acceptable level of performance. These barrels have been test fired in a AIACS chassis with a Jewel trigger and a RimX receiver using a RimX magazine. Ultimately the responsibility for the performance of your firearms rests on the work YOUR gunsmith does. If your barrel doesn’t perform to your expectations, you can ship us your barrel for re-testing, and if we determine we are at fault we will replace or repair your barrel. In any case, you are responsible for shipping the barrel to us, and for the return shipping. The idea being that we should never be shipping out a barrel that is defective because it has already been tested. This testing should not be construed to mean we in any way suggest that this barrel will perform with your ammunition, in your chassis, with your trigger and your skills. To be certain that you are getting a platform that functions as a system, we highly recommend you use a certified gunsmith who specializes in .22LR builds.
The RimX 22LR Barrel with Action ships with:

A top of the line rimfire action from the makers of the legendary TL3 actions, the RimX offers features and pricing not matched by the competition. This is a phenomenal action to base your 22LR trainer rifle for shooting the National Rifle League 22 matches and for practice for long range field competitions.
Rimfire rifles have never been this close to their centerfire counterparts. Thanks to a Remington 700 footprint, all the stocks, chassis, and triggers you use with your TL3 or similar actions will also be compatible with the RimX. The integral recoil lug and pinned rail work together to ensure the same rugged construction you’ve come to expect from a match-quality rifle. The receiver and the body of the bolt are nitrided, while the bolt heads are DLC coated to provide the smoothest feel.
Speaking of bolt heads, the RimX 22LR Barrel and Action is available with 3 different interchangeable options to cover all popular rimfire cartridges! Currently they will ship with 22LR | 17 Mach 2 bolt heads, with separate heads for 17 HMR/22 Magnum and 17 WSM available at a later date (and by request). A tool-less bayonet style fire control group means that changing between cartridges will be easier than ever before. Better yet, a non-protruding extraction system means that barrel breech faces no longer require timed extractor relief cuts. Flat breech faces, similar to centerfire rifles, combined with strict tolerances mean pre-fit barrels will be easily produced for the RimX without gunsmith’s requiring the action for their own measurements.
The RimX action is also available in 28 different rail and bolt knob combinations, allowing for customization to perfectly match your individual preferences. The pinned rails are available in 0, 20, 30, and 40 MOA inclines while bolt knobs may be picked from the tactical, teardrop, competition, helical diamond, spiral, diamond, or diamond extended offerings.
The RimX 22LR Barrel and Action includes (1) magazine designed in tandem with the action to maximize the ease of loading and reliability of feeding. Machined from 7075 aluminum and hard-coat anodized, this magazine will stand up to the test of time. It includes an integrated feed ramp for the smoothest possible bolt cycle, along with a follower that has finger holds to make loading quick and easy. As a final touch, every magazine is height adjustable to really fine tune and perfect the feeding cycles.
Finally, the RimX may be ordered as either a standalone action with one magazine or as a complete set as barrel and action with a magazine.
Barrels and Chamber
Both the Benchmark and Bartlein barrels are chambered using a proprietary custom Match reamer. This reamer optimizes smooth feeding for round nosed .22LR rounds like the ones in the Lapua family of cartridges (Center X, Midas+, SK standard match etc). The new reamer we are using is optimized to provide match groups but with smoother feeding from magazine fed rifles.
There are a LOT of reamers on the market, just as there are many uses of the very old .22LR cartridge. Many of those reamers are designed around semi-auto rifles. We use the reamer we think will shoot the most accurate because we primarily sell to precision shooters. That means we don’t use a semi-auto reamer for our chamber.
Please also keep in mind that everything related to the .22LR is small. The tolerances are small, the cartridge is small and everything has to function within those small tolerances for it to work well. This is very much unlike a centerfire rifle which most of our customers are accustomed to shooting.
You SHOULD expect to have to tweak your magazine seating depth, you SHOULD expect to need to clean your rifle frequently. If you shoot .22LR suppressed you SHOULD expect more carbon build-up in your rifle.
You should not expect your Rimfire rifle to perform like your Centerfire rifle!

Changing your Barrel
A word about action wrenches. If you are like me, one of the draws of Zermatt Arms actions is that you can easily spin on you own barrels with just a barrel vice and action wrench. The standard Zermatt Arms action wrench for the TL3 Action will work in the RimX action, as do standard Remington700 Action wrenches – no special action wrench is required.
