Garmin Xero C1 Pro Ballistic Chronograph
Garmin just introduced a small pocket sized Ballistic Chronograph named the Xero C1 Pro.
Radar based ballistic chronograph functions.
This small ballistic chronograph replaces the extremely old and unreliable optical ballistic chronographs from days gone by, allowing accurate velocity readings from 100 fps to 5000 fps.
The Garmin Xero C1 Pro gun chronograph functions very similarly to the LabRadar ballistic chronograph, in that is doesn’t need to attach to your firearm to determine a projectiles velocity.
It improves on the LabRadar in several very important ways
- Extremely simple to use and configure (LabRadar is very difficult to configure)
- Handles suppressed shooting with ease

I love this little thing! It's compact, lightweight, has simple controls and an easy to view display. It picked up every one of my shots and none of anybody else's, and I barely noticed it there on the shooting bench with me. Set up was quick and easy, the app worked perfectly without any hassle and reconnected on it's own anytime my phone got out of range and came back. The display can be customized to show average velocity, lowest, highest, ES, SD or several other statistics. Oh and I was at the range for nearly 4 hours with this thing on the entire time and only went through about 1/3rd of the battery. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!
This was my second purchase of the Garmin Xero C1 Chronograph. The first one was for me, this second one was a birthday present for my buddy. Shortly after I purchased mine, my buddy and I were at the range testing some new loads in our 6,5 Creedmoor rifles. He was totally blown away by the small size, ease of set-up and accuracy. When his birthday came around I thought he would like it, I was wrong...he loved it!
Great unit, you can see my first review for my thoughts on this little gem.
I just received it a couple weeks ago, so only used it twice. Bison did a great job of getting it to me quickly and without any problems. My first impression of this unit is the size, it is really small, smaller that a deck of playing cards. I purchased this one to replace a Magneto-speed as it was inconvenient to run multiple rifles and affected the point of impact, so I had to dedicate time and ammo to check my velocities.
This unit works great, very easy to figure out, even without reading the directions...though I will at some point, as there are some advanced features that I have not explored yet.
The first time I took it to the range I screwed on the small tripod, set it under the rifle bipod and started shooting. That is, it, so easy! Nothing touches your gun, so I ran velocities all day on every shot, so the data is more significant. On one rifle I attached my magneto-speed to validate the new Garmin, the readings were nearly identical, all within 5fps.
This last weekend I was in an Advance Precision Rifle class where we were setting-up ballistics applications, so getting the correct velocity is crucial. The school has an old-fashioned Cadwell optical unit, we also set-up my Garmin and ran them side-by-side. We found this unit far more accurate, as the velocities were more consistent, the optical unit was within a few FPS on most shots but varied up to 40 fps on some.
This thing is a dream; easy to transport, easy to use and very accurate.
I have only used it once so far, it worked great with no malfunctions. Bison Tactical did a great job with communication & fast delivery
