JP Rifles uses the 5.56 chamber in the short barrels (11″-14″) because it improves reliability with short gas systems verses the .223 Wylde chamber in short gas systems.
These shorter barreled rifles also have a slightly faster twist rate than longer barrels. This is done by JP Rifles to gain a slight increase in velocity, and to stabilize the heavy bullets most people shoot (77gr+).
