Tripod Grip Tape for Shooters
Introducing the Bison Tactical Tripod Grip tape specifically for shooters. Makes a nice even cover for 1 tripod leg (8′), and fits the upper leg of the RRS TFCT-33 which is 18.5″ long. You can trim for a shorter leg length, but will need two for longer legs.
Our Tripod Grip Tape is not spongy, there is not foam “body” to the tape, just simply pure grippy material made from polymer with an adhesive back.
The purpose of this self adhesive grip tape is to provide a better surface when using the tripod as a rear support. It provides some protection for the carbon fiber legs (helps avoid scratches), and works better than coban (vet-wrap) which moves lacking adhesive backing.
We use this material in our Tactical Udders as the new grip material. It is expensive material made by 3M, but works so well that it is hard to go the inexpensive route.
The Tripod Grip Tape is thin material, I first wipe down the tripod leg with alcohol to get off any oils or anything that would interfere with the adhesive. Then I apply the grip tape without overlap (the edges abut), and unwrap the release tape as I apply the grip tape. This allows me to use (1) 8′ length for each 18.5″ tripod leg. I put tension on the tape as I apply, and tape both ends off with black electrical tape.
This is not a permanent solution. At some point this tape will wear off and you may need to replace it, but it is inexpensive enough that you can use it and replace when needed.
Comes with (1) length of self-adhesive grip tape, and (2) alcohol prep pads for wiping down the leg first.
